Lion 1, while researching I found that most ancient art referring to lions had both a mane and spots, so I added that into the lion's design.

Wolf 2, pushed the character a lot here. The big "fin" would act like a shark fin as it moved through the tall grass.

Wolf 1, interesting note, the jackal is actually a type of grey wolf.
